Safelite Autoglass - Bad windshield repair
I had you install a new windshield in my car today. The serviceman told me to wait an hour before diriving the car, which I did.
Now the windshield rattles, it is obviously loose in the frame. Apparently due to the extreme cold the adhesive did not hold. One of your people at customer service told me that it takes 24-48 hours for the glue to dry. This means that if I'm driving around the glass is loosening up more and will never have a solid bond to the car frame.
I had your company do another windshield about 4 years ago and this problem did not happen. The rattling sound is definitely not coming from the part of the car under the glass. I am sure I hear the glass rattling because the sound is coming from various different directions around the windshield, and it is the sound of glass vibrating, not a part of the car. My order # is 01810-32****.
Now I have to go through the whole process again to fix the glass, I called customer service and they said it is under warranty but I do no want to have Safelite replace the glass a second time if the work is not going to be done right. This is very time consuming and I have to take time off work to do it.
I will have to go to a local repair shop or the car dealer to do it all over again. I realize that I can't legally get my money back because I am obligated to have Safelite fix it under the warranty, but I don't trust them if they got it wrong the first time.

Dealerships dont install their own glass...they call safelite to do it..Im at the dealerships a few times a week
Depending on the vehicle the "rattle" your hearing could be the hard rubber moldings. With it being cold and new rubber moldings they take time to adjust to the shape of the vehicle.
Typical in cold weather. Rubber from molding is stiff.
Safe drive away is achieved an hour or two after install. However glue does take 36 to 48 hrs to completely harden. There is still slight movement to glass and body during this time, which cant be seen with eye. Sometimes it can be rather noisy.
I tell my customers on certain vehicles that this could happen until completely hardened. I hate Safelite but to there defense proper time should be given before complaining about a bad install.
