Safelite Auto Glass broke my apilars and are giving me the runaround

St. Pete, Florida
A couple of months ago my windshield was broken by rock on the highway. I had the windshield replaced through my insurance company - who uses Safelite (the Largo, FL office). I've had one other windshield replaced by them and another repaired, they did ok work. But this last time they replaced the windshield, they damaged the apilars, replacing them unsecurely and now both have been blown off!
I replaced the first one myself, thinking, hey, maybe it's a coincidence. But this morning the other apilar flew off while I was on the highway. Not the one I replaced myself, that one is installed properly and snug as it can be.
I called to have Safelite reimburse me for the cost of the apilars and from very first minute on the phone, I started getting the run around. Someone is supposed to call me back, but that was hours ago. And I'm still in the process of gathering all the data from the windshield install to the apilar that I replaced, etc.
Needless to say, none of their technicians will ever touch my car again regardless of how this turns out.

Safelite is the biggest *** shop around, cheap aftermarket glass, that oh by the way, the make themselves. Horrible fit, poor quality, just plain crappy work. Never ever use this company unless you enjoy having problems

So, 16 days later and the Customer Satisfaction Department at the Safelite corporate offices finally managed to deliver a check to me covering the cost of the apilars that I was forced to replace after their service.
Needless to say, if someone at a local Safelite service center is giving you the run-around about fixing damage that they have done to your vehicle during a glass repair or replacement, demand to speak to someone, anyone in the Customer Satisfaction Department at their corporate offices. Even the receptionist at a local office should have this number. And don't be afraid to tell your insurance company "no" when they recommend Safelite. Feel free to go with a local company!

I did call my insurance company, Geico, and while they are all for giving the impression that they are willing to help, they aren't actually prepared to do anything about it. I just amazes me that no one is willing to take responsibility for their own shoddy workmanship. I have no incentive to let Safelite attempt to repair my apilars when they, the so-called "experts" are the ones who broke them in the first place. It's funny that I can do a better job at it than the "experts". Regardless, I will never do business with Safelite again.

Share this with your insurance company considering they sent you to these folks.
Tell them that you expect them to handle this on your behalf.
